About us
Buma is built by a small team in Lithuania. We started it because keeping a newborn's day in your head is a job in itself — and because every app we tried assumed only one parent would ever be doing the logging.
So we built the app around two people instead of one. A family shares a baby, both parents write into the same history, and every entry records who logged it and who last changed it. Everything else follows from that decision.
How we write about sleep and feeding
The blog covers infant sleep, feeding and growth, which is a subject where being confidently wrong can hurt someone. These are the rules we hold ourselves to, and you can check every one of them against any post.
- Every figure is a linked source
- Studies, ranges and guidelines are hyperlinked to the body that published them — the NHS, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, PubMed. If we cannot cite it, we do not claim it. Each post lists its sources at the end.
- Safe sleep guidance is never contradicted
- Anything we write about where or how a baby sleeps follows current AAP and NHS advice. We do not publish workarounds, and we do not illustrate an article with a cot that would not pass.
- We do not prescribe
- No feed volumes, no schedules, no medication, no sleep-training method presented as the one to use. We describe what the research reports and what the ranges are, and every post says who to call about the things a blog cannot answer.
- Posts are signed and dated
- Written by Martynas, with the date first published and the date last updated on every one. When guidance changes, we change the post rather than quietly leaving it up.
Buma is not a medical device
Buma is a record-keeping app. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose anything, and nothing it shows you — including anything Ask Buma says — is medical advice. Its wake windows and charts describe what you logged; they are not a clinical assessment of your baby. Talk to your midwife, health visitor, GP or paediatrician about anything that concerns you.
